Workers Compensation

The general purpose and objective of the Workers' Compensation and Occupational Diseases Acts in Illinois is to help promote the general welfare of the employee (or dependents) by: providing compensation and payment of medical expenses for accidental injuries, occupational illnesses or death suffered in the course of and arising out of employment.  It is obvious that in order to provide maximum benefits and assistance to the employee, such compensation should be provided to legitimate claimants in a timely manner.  By providing prompt, courteous, and efficient service, the State, as employer, is fulfilling its responsibilities under the Acts in mitigating the hardships and stress imposed upon the employee (or dependents) as a result of loss of earnings and medical expenses due to an occupational illness, injury, or death.  All parties involved in the workers’ compensation claims process have responsibilities to ensure the success of the Workers’ Compensation Claims Program.
